The piccolo section is the originator of the hand motions that go along with the lyrics to the Cal song "Lights Out". The other sections of the band and even rally-comm members and students have adopted the motions with the notable exception of the brass players. They must not realize what they are missing.

The Pinky

Instead of "clicking" in the tunnel minutes before a performance of pregame, the piccolos wish each other good luck by joining pinky fingers. Piccolos will still "click" with other non-piccolos, but they are too sophisticated to perform such a violent act with other members of the section.
